Phil Newman is in his second season as a member of head coach Bob Babb's staff. Newman, who will serve as the varsity infield and hitting coach and head coach of the junior varsity team, came to Hopkins from Dickinson College. He played his college ball at Dickinson for two years and helped lead the Red Devils to a Centennial Conference playoff appearance in 2004. Newman played the first two years of his college career at Mt. St. Mary's. Newman graduated from Dickinson in 2004 with a degree in international business and management and a minor in Spanish. Since graduation, Newman has been working to develop youth baseball programs by creating a business called Professional Baseball Training. He is working alongside Paul Winterling and Matt Righter, two Hopkins alum who are playing professionally. Newman married his wife, Lori, this past August.
