March 24, 2008

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior third baseman Todd Emr (Westwood, NJ/Saddle River Day) was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday by the league office. Emr, who led the Blue Jays to a 6-1 week, is the second straight Blue Jay to claim player of the week honors, following teammate Jonas Fester who was last week's honoree.

Emr started his week by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs in the loss to Keene State. He followed that up with a 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs and a run scored versus Western New England. Emr then went 2-for-4 against Williams. In the final three games of the week, Emr did not make more then one out in a game going a combined 11-for-14 against Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Dakota State and Hamline. He scored eight runs during those three contests and drove in four runs.

For the week, Emr hit a team-best .692 with 18 hits and 12 runs scored. He had three doubles and two triples with nine RBIs. Emr finished with 25 total bases, a slugging percentage of .962 and an on-base percentage of .710. He finished with five stolen bases and a sacrifice fly during those six contests. Emr hit .727 during the Blue Jays' six wins and is currently on an eight game hit streak.

For the season, Emr is hitting .460 and is leading the team in hits (23) and is tied for the lead in at bats (50). He continues to field the ball well at third base in his return from an injury that cost him most of last season.

Emr and the Blue Jays will put their six-game win streak on the line on Tuesday, March 25. The Blue Jays host McDaniel College as they begin their Centennial Conference title defense at 3:30 p.m.
