Hopkins to Compete in NCAA South Regional Tournament in Danville, VA
May 12, 2008 BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins baseball team earned the two seed for the upcoming NCAA South Regional Tournament. The Blue Jays are part of a six-team regional that will begin play on Wednesday, May 14th in Danville, VA. Hopkins will be making its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament overall and its 14th appearance under head coach Bob Babb.
The number one seed in the region's double-elimination tournament went to Salisbury while the Blue Jays earned the two seed. Piedmont earned the number three seed and was followed by Lynchburg, Christopher Newport and Randolph-Macon.
Hopkins, who finished the regular season with a 34-5 record, is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA Regional. The Blue Jays reached the NCAA Tournament after winning the Centennial Conference Tournament. Hopkins will take on Christopher Newport on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
Christopher Newport finished the regular season with a record of 28-12 and won the USA South Athletic Conference title. This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
