PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's crew team closed out the 2007-08 season last weekend at the annual Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. The Novice 8 crew advanced to the semifinals highlighting the weekend.
The Novice 8 crew advanced to the semifinals with a third place finish in its heat (6:25.570). The crew then placed fifth in the first semifinal (6:17.832). In the boat were freshmen Alisha Tuteja (Arlington, VA/Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology), Daniel Bagdorf (Old Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) and William Bagdorf (Old Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme), sophomore Adam Ammar (Chicago, IL/Whitney Young), freshmen Christian Honore (Princeton, NJ/Princeton High), Max Thorsbakken (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire Memorial), Eric Chen (Macungie, PA/Shanghai American School), Steve Cardinali (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock Township) and Marcus Webb (Moultrie, GA/Maclay School (FL)).
The Varsity 8 crew of junior Madison West (New Britain, CT/Hotchkiss), freshman Andrew Faulkner (Anchorage, AK/Phillips Academy Andover (MA)), seniors Chris Vaglia (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) and Josiah Drewien (Hailey, ID/The Community School), sophomore Joshua Crist (Akron, OH/Nordonia), freshmen George Reynolds (Washington, CT/Kent School) and Will Cooper (Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allderdice), junior Taylor Reese (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) and sophomore Pete Ranieri (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) finished fourth in its heat (6:05.011) and then fourth in the reps (6:00.157).
The Varsity 4 crew placed fifth in its heat with a time of 7:26.474. In the boat were sophomore
Stephen Hou (Fort Mill, SC/Fort Mill), junior
Cameron Ward (Bremerton, VA/Olympic), sophomores
Dante Ross (Napa, CA/Vintage),
Larkin Luo (Elk Grove, CA/Franklin) and
Alexander Baish (Ijamsville, MD/Georgetown Prep).
Wrapping up their careers last weekend were Drewien and Vaglia.
