BALTIMORE, MD - Fresh off its first-ever trip to the NCAA Playoffs and a fourth straight Centennial Conference Championship, the Johns Hopkins football team has placed seven players on the 2005 ECAC Division III Southwest All-Star Team it was recently announced. The Blue Jays had two offensive players, four defensive players and one special teams player selected to the squad, which featured a first team and an honorable mention listing. All of JHU's honorees were previously named First Team All-Centennial and all seven earned First Team All-ECAC Southwest.

Junior wide receiver Anthony Triplin (Baltimore, MD/Gilman) and senior center Marc DeGennaro (Secaucus, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) were Hopkins' two offensive representatives. Triplin, the 2005 Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year, had career highs of 77 receptions for 803 yards and three touchdowns, while DeGennaro started the final 33 games of his career at center and was a three-time All-Centennial performer.

Each of JHU's four First Team All-Centennial picks on defense earned First Team All-ECAC Southwest honors as junior defensive end Brian Cook (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock), junior defensive tackle Anthony Woodard (Earlysville, VA/St. Anne's Belfield), senior linebacker Adam Luke (Teague, TX/Teague) and senior cornerback Adam Colicchio (Martinsville, NJ/Immaculata) were honored.

Cook finished fifth on the team in tackles (53), led the team in sacks (8.0/59 yards) and tied for second in tackles for losses (11.0/70). He teamed with Woodard to form one of the top defensive line tandems in the region. Woodard finished fourth on the team in tackles (56) and ranked second in sacks (5.5/25 yards) and tied for second in tackles for losses (11.0/35).

Luke enjoyed the finest season of his career as he led the team in tackles (99), ranked fifth in tackles for losses (9.0/47 yards) and tied for fourth in sacks (4.0/36 yards). He added five pass breakups and had a team-high 10 tackles, including one sack, and one interception against Thiel in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs.

Colicchio was the lone returning starter in the secondary this season and responded with a solid year. He had a career-high 43 tackles and added team-highs of 11 pass breakups and four interceptions.

Rounding out the first team picks for the Blue Jays is junior punter Ben Scott (Pittsburgh, PA/Shady Side Academy). Scott, who is the first punter in school history to earn First Team All-Centennial honors, averaged a Centennial-best 37.5 yards per punt and dropped a school-record 21 punts inside the opposition's 20-yard line. His 37.5-yard average is the highest for a Johns Hopkins punter since 1978.

First Team All-ECAC Southwest:
