Did You Know: Michael Peyser was a two-time All-State selection in football at Cold Spring Harbor High School. This Season: Preseason Second Team All-American by 2003 Face-Off Yearbook •Takes over as the leader of Hopkins’ close defense • Brings the total package to the position with good size, speed, and toughness. 2002: Honorable Mention STX/USILA All-American • Started all 14 games on close defense • Most versatile member of a Johns Hopkins defense that allowed just 8.43 goals per game and didn’t allow more than 12 goals in any game during the season • Team held nine of 14 opponents to nine goals or less • Tied for fourth on the team with 33 ground balls, the most among JHU’s close defensemen. 2001: Played in all 12 games as a key member of JHU’s defensive midfield • Played as a short-stick defensive middie for the first seven games before switching to long-stick for the final five games (made the switch when P.J. DiConza was lost for the season with a knee injury) • Had 20 ground balls on the year. 2000: Quietly worked way into a regular spot in Hopkins’ defensive rotation • Played in 10 games with one start (Maryland) and had four ground balls to his credit • In addition to playing close defense, also saw time on the wing on faceoffs and spot duty on JHU’s man-down unit as well. At Cold Spring Harbor: Standout performer in both football and lacrosse • Two-time All-County and an Honorable Mention All-American in lacrosse • Participated in the Empire State Games in lacrosse as well • Was also a two-time All-County and three-time All-State selection in football.
