ST. PETER, MN - Sophomore David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho Senior) and freshman Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) each won their singles matches, but #11 Johns Hopkins fell 7-2 to #6 DePauw in the seventh place match at the National Indoor Championships. The Blue Jays are 0-3 on the season as the Tigers improve to 2-2.

DePauw took a 3-0 lead after doubles play, before winning four of the six singles matches to claim the match. At first doubles, freshman Casey Blythe (Louisville, KY/Saint Xavier) and senior Joe Vasoontara (Bangkok, Thailand/Loomis Chaffee) lost 8-3 to #10 Kortney Keith and Scott Swanson. Maldow and senior Matt Naftilan (Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell Academy) dropped an 8-6 match to Bryan Heck and Scott Sandager at second doubles. And at third, senior Rafael Roberti (Summit, NJ/Summit) and Wang lost 9-7 to Hunter Schouweiler and Cameron Nash.

In singles action, Maldow and Wang won at first and second respectively for the Blue Jays. While the Tigers claimed third through sixth. Maldow, who is now 11-1 on the season, defeated Keith in three sets (1-6, 6-4, 6-3). Wang won in straight sets, beating Swanson 6-2, 6-4.

Hopkins returns to action on Thursday, March 13 at Gettysburg. The Blue Jays kick-off their Centennial Conference title defense with a 4:00 pm match against the Bullets.
