JHU Men's Tennis Sweeps Gettysburg, 7-0 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, April 3, 2001 JHU MEN'S TENNIS SWEEPS GETTYSBURG, 7-0 BALTIMORE - Johns Hopkins' men's tennis team earned its second consecutive by blanking Centennial Conference foe Gettysburg, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Gettysburg Tennis Center. With the victory, the Blue Jays improve to 7-5 overall and remain undefeated in conference action with a 4-0 record. The Bullets drop to 3-4 on the season. Hopkins won five of six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Kevin Alford (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) won at No. 1. Seniors Andrew Chu (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and Dan Kreeger (Miami Beach, FL/Ransom Everglades) and junior Ashish Lall (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) all moved to 4-0 in Centennial singles matches with victories at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 respectively. Junior Sion Roy (Chandler, AZ/Brophy College Prep) toppled his opponent at #4, while junior Erhan Bedestani (Hamilton, NJ/Lawrenceville Prep) went to a three-set tiebreak to best his foe, 6-2, 4-6, (10-8). Senior Jamie Saxe (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) teamed with Alford for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles for the Blue Jays. The tandem of Chu and Kreeger also improved to 4-0 in Centennial doubles action. Hopkins looks to remain unbeaten in the conference when the team hosts Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
