BALTIMORE, MD - Three members of the Johns Hopkins men's tennis team were chosen for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships to be held May 16-18 at Bates College. Sophomore David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho) will be making his second consecutive appearance in the singles championship. While senior Joe Vasoontara (Bangkok, Thailand/Loomis Chaffee) and freshman Casey Blythe (Louisville, KY/Saint Xavier) have been selected for the doubles championship.

Maldow led the Blue Jays with a 23-4 singles record, becoming the first player in school history to eclipse 20 wins in a season. He went 8-0 in the Centennial Conference to earn first team all-conference honors for the second straight season. A 2007 All-American, Maldow already ranks in the top-five in school history in career singles wins (41) and in the top-10 in career doubles wins (33) and total wins (74). He is currently the #1 ranked singles player in the Atlantic South by the ITA.

Blythe and Vasoontara combined for an 18-7 record this season and earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors. Vasoontara became just the third player in conference history to earn first team honors four times. He holds the school record for career doubles wins (59) and total wins (106) and ranks second in career singles wins (47). Blythe has a total of 20 doubles wins this season, breaking the school single-season record of 19 held by Vasoontara and Hillen Smith '07. The pair is currently ranked third in the Atlantic South and 11th nationally.
