Jay Dunn returns for his eighth season as an assistant for the Johns Hopkins track and field teams. A member of head coach Bobby Van Allen's staff since 2000, Dunn's main focus is on the Blue Jay throwers. He also assists with the sprinters, jumpers and other events as needed. Dunn's coaching experience began back in the 1960's as a coach of the Baltimore Olympic Club, where he worked with world and national class athletes. During his time at Hopkins, there have been nine female Centennial Conference Champions and numerous school and freshman records have fallen. Under Dunn's coaching, Kathy Darling was a national champion in the discus and an All-American in the javelin and discus. The Hopkins men's team has been a consistent point producer in the conference championships under Dunn. Dunn received his B.S. from Johns Hopkins, holds a diploma from the U. S. Track Coaches Association and is a gold medal member of the National Throws Coaches Association.
