Hopkins Competes at ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championship

BOSTON, MA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team competed at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championship over the weekend. David Sigmon placed eighth in the 3,000-meters to lead the Blue Jays on the weekend.
St. Lawrence who finished with 69 points won the event. Moravian (59 pts.) and Nazareth (38 pts.) rounded out the top three teams. Hopkins finished with seven points and in a tie for 35th place on the weekend.
Sigmon ran 8:49.62 to capture eighth place in the 3,000-meters while teammate Graham Belton took 13th place with a time of 8:54.56. Belton also placed tenth in the one-mile run after completing the race in 4:20.66. Patrick Brandon captured eighth place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:06.67.
Tristan Thomas had a strong showing for the Blue Jays on the weekend. He placed 19th in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.70. Thomas also took 19th in the 200-meter dash after posting a time of 23.01. With a time of 2:35.55, James Bronson recorded an 11th place finish in the 1,000-meter run.
Nate Sotuyo finished 19th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.28. The 4x880 relay team took seventh place with a time of 8:06.04, while the distance medley relay team posted a time of 10:27.09 to secure a sixth place finish. Matt Trachtenberg finished tied for 10th in the pole vault with a final vault of 4.40m.
The ECAC meet wrapped up the indoor season for the track and field team. They will return to action on March 28 and 29 at the Raleigh Relays and the Terrapin Invitational. Those two meets will kick off the outdoor season for the program.
