CHESTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team competed at the Widener Invitational in Chester, PA over the weekend. The Blue Jays received several strong performances in the meet including David Sigmon and Michael Yuan who claimed the top two spots in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Sigmon won the steeplechase with a time of 10:11.48 while Yuan placed second in the event with a time of 10:20.70. The Blue Jays also finished first and second in the pole vault. Matt Trachtenberg and Adam Waddell each posted a 4.40m with Trachtenberg taking the tiebreaker. Tristan Thomas took second place in the 100-meter dash as he crossed the line in a time of 10.93. Thomas also captured a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28.

Hopkins had two runners finish in the top ten in the 5,000-meter run. Patrick Brandon finished second as he crossed the line in 15:02.81 while Steve Tobochnik set a new freshman record with a time of 15:16.11 and took fifth. Nate Sotuyo claimed a seventh place finish the 800-meters as he posted a time of 1:56.14.

Jordan Litner had a fifth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.95. The 4x100 relay team finished second in its event with a time of 42.89 while the 4x400 meter relay took third with a time of 3:25.31. Michael Palantoni finished second in the high jump, recording a 1.88m. Peter Li finished third in the shot put with a throw of 14.15m.
 

 

The Blue Jays will return to action on Saturday, April 26 at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg.
