GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team is in second place after day one of the Centennial Conference Championship. Adam Waddell won the pole vault to lead the Blue Jays.

Waddell recorded a 4.60m to capture first place in his event. Teammate Matt Trachtenberg took second in the pole vault with a 4.50m and gave the Blue Jays a one two finish.

Senior Patrick Brandon placed third in the 10,000-meters after posting a time of 32:09.68. Andrew Harrington was 12th in the event after crossing the line in 34:58.58.

The decathlon started on Friday with the first five events. Devin McDermott competed in the event for the Blue Jays. McDermott took in the 100 and 400-meter dash. He posted a 12.29 in the 100 and a 56.49 in the 400. McDermott tied for fourth in the high jump with a 1.55m. He took second in the shot put with a toss of 10.72m and fourth in the long jump after posting 5.89m.

The action continues on day two of the Centennial Conference Championship on Saturday at Gettysburg.
