LEWISBERRY, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's crew team competed at the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Championships last weekend. Also, Laura DeMare (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) and Allison Carlstrom (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) earned All-Mid Atlantic Regional honors.
Hopkins competed in just two events at the championships, the Varsity 4 and the Novice 4. Hopkins placed third in the Varsity 4 with a time of 8:52.08. Crewing the boat were Danielle Fair (Doylestown, PA/Hun School of Princeton), Katie Blumer (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater Area), DeMare, Allison Hoy (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan).
The Novice 4 crew placed fourth with a time of 9:06.04. Crewing the boat were Courtney Cunningham (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel), Madison West (New Britain, CT/Hotchkiss), Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD), Ue Jin Kim (Houston, TX/Stratford) and Carlstrom. Kim was also awarded the team's Most Improved Novice award.
Hopkins concludes the season at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 11-12 in Philadelphia, PA.
