John Tucker, 1984 graduate of Johns Hopkins, enters his second season on the Blue Jays women's lacrosse staff.
Tucker spent 18 years as a teacher and coach in Baltimore area private schools prior to joining the Hopkins staff. He guided his teams to four Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships and was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame in January 2003.
Tucker played both football and lacrosse while at Hopkins. An All-American under head coach Don Zimmerman, Tucker was a member of the 1984 NCAA Championship team that went 14-0. He played in the National Lacrosse League from 1987 to 1993 for the Philadelphia Wings and captained the Wings to World Championships in 1989 and 1990. He is currently the head coach of the Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse.
Tucker is married to Hopkins' women's lacrosse head coach Janine Tucker. The couple have two sons, Ryan and Devin. Ryan is an eighth grader at Gilman and Devin is in seventh grade at Cathedral.
