BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Paige Ibello (Cockeysville, MD/Maryvale Prep) scored a career-high five goals to lead #15 Johns Hopkins to a 19-3 win over visiting Cincinnati on Thursday night. The win evens the Blue Jays record at 4-4 on the year while the Bearcats fall to 1-7 overall. In all 10 different players scored for the Blue Jays.

Senior Lauren Schwarzmann (Sykesville, MD/Century) put Hopkins on the board just 34 seconds in on a nice feed from sophomore Brett Bathras (Severna Park, MD/Severn School). But the Bearcats answered when Jamie Desautels took a pass from Lindsey Marshall and scored to make it a 1-1 game at 4:23. Senior Katie Dumais (Lutherville, MD/Maryvale Prep) gave the Blue Jays back the lead when she scored on a free position goal after a failed Bearcats clear. Schwarzmann followed with her second of the day at 8:30 on a pass from senior Kirby Houck (Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest) at the top of the arc.

Less than a minute later, Allison Bell cut the deficit to one when she dodged the down the middle and fired a shot past sophomore goalie Lizzie O'Ferrall (Baltimore, MD/Mount De Sales). Sophomore Kim Dubansky (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) quickly answered, scoring on a bounce shot to give Hopkins a 4-2 lead. Five different Blue Jays scored during the run, led by Ibello who potted four, that stretched until halftime.
 

 

Coming out of the half, Lynsey Burton scored on a shot just inside the left post to end the Hopkins run and make it a 12-3 game with 24:54 to play. The Blue Jays closed out the game with six unanswered, with Dubansky scoring three of the six.

Ibello, Schwarzmann, Dubansky, Houck, Bathras and sophomore Danielle Ensley (Severna Park, MD/Severna) all had multi-point games for Hopkins. Dubansky finished with a career-high four goals, while Ensley dished a career-high three assists.

O'Ferrall finished with two saves while playing 22:44 and earning the win. Also seeing action in the cage for Hopkins were juniors Amelia Harris (Clifton, VA/J.W. Robinson) and Jess Buicko (Altamont, NY/Hotchkiss) and freshman Julianne Wisner (Parkton, MD/Notre Dame Prep). For the Bearcats, Jen Mott made seven saves, while Haley Marvine played 23:54 in relief and made three saves.

Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, March 30 when the #19 Denver Pioneers visit Homewood Field. Game time for the non-conference game is slated for noon.
