BALTIMORE, MD - Five members of the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team have earned American Lacrosse All-Conference honors as announced by the conference office Thursday. Earning first team honors were seniors Sarah Gallion (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright), Kirby Houck (Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest) and Lauren Schwarzmann (Sykesville, MD/Century). Senior Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) and sophomore Angela Hughes (Manchester, MD/North Carroll) earned second team honors.

Gallion has been a leader on defense for the Blue Jays in her four years and this is the second time she has earned All-ALC honors. She leads the team this season in ground balls (34) and ranks second in caused turnovers (18). Entering this weekend's ALC Tournament, she ranks 10th in school Division I career history in ground balls (128) and 11th in caused turnovers (46).

Houck has had a stellar senior season in the midfield for Hopkins, posting career highs in goals (27), assists (9), points (36), ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (23). A first-time All-ALC selection, she ranks in the top-15 in school DI history in career goals (64), assists (20), points (84), draw controls (68) and caused turnovers (39).

A four-time All-ALC honoree, Schwarzmann returned to action after missing four games due to illness at the start of the season. She became the ninth player to eclipse 100 career points earlier this season and enters this weekend with 115 career points. She also ranks in the top-10 in JHU DI history in goals (76), assists (39) and draw controls (88).

Hughes has been solid on defense for the Blue Jays in her two seasons. She's posted career highs in ground balls (20), draw controls (11) and caused turnovers (16) this season. In addition, Hughes has scored three goals this season for the Blue Jays.

Stamper, a three-time All-ALC selection, returned from ACL surgery in October to start the season opener on February 23. She ranks third on the team in goals (24) and is tied for fourth in points with 27. Stamper enters this weekend just one draw control shy of tying the school's all-time record of 202. In addition, she needs five goals to become just the sixth player in school DI history with 100 career goals.

Hopkins takes on Vanderbilt in the ALC Semifinals on Saturday at 2:00 pm CST at Northwestern. The Blue Jays are looking to avenge an 11-10 overtime loss to the Commodores earlier this season. Hopkins defeated Vanderbilt 12-10 in the ALC Semifinals last season. Live stats are available at: http://nusports.cstv.com/sports/w-lacros/spec-rel/08-alc-championship.html.
