June 1, 2006

BALTIMORE, MD - Junior attacker Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) and sophomore midfielder Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) were honored by InsideLacrosse.com and womenslacrosse.com this week. Key earned first team All-America honors from both websites, while Stamper earned second team honors.

Key was named a first team All-American by InsideLacrosse.com and womenslacrosse.com in 2005. She also earned First Team IWLCA All-America honors earlier this week. Stamper was named to the third team by InsideLacrosse.com and to the all rookie team by womenslacrosse.com last season. Key led the Blue Jays and the NCAA with 101 points on 60 goals and 41 assists. It was the second straight season she led the NCAA in points per game. Her 101 points is a school all-time record, besting the previous mark of 99 set in 1995 by Jenn Ward. She also broke the Hopkins' Division I career assists (95) and points (262) records. In all, Key holds 14 school records with one more season yet to play.

Stamper, a 2006 ALC First Team honoree, had another solid season in the midfield for the Blue Jays. She ranked tied for third on the team with 32 points (26g, 3a). She led the team in ground balls (45), draw controls (54) and caused turnovers (14). She ranked 11th in the NCAA and second in the ALC in draw controls per game (3.38). Her 54 draw controls this season are the fourth most in school D-I history. She is also just the second player in Hopkins D-I history to record more than 100 career draws.

Hopkins posted a 12-4 overall record this season with a 3-2 mark in the American Lacrosse Conference. The Blue Jays were ranked as high as #2 in the IWLCA and Bounce Entertainment/Inside Lacrosse polls.
