David Berdan joins head coach Bobby Van Allen's staff for the 2007-08 season.
Berdan comes to Hopkins from Elizabethtown where he competed for both the cross-country and track and field teams. He qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship in cross-country all four years with his highest placing coming with a 44th place finish. Berdan was a two-time Division III All-American in track and field finishing second in the 10,000 and sixth in the 5,000 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2004. Also in 2004, he was named the mid-east region male athlete of the year for outdoor track and field.
Berdan has been running professionally for the last three years and was a member of ZapFitness, an Olympic development training team in North Carolina in 2005. He received his degree from Elizabethtown in environmental science and currently works as a seventh grade science teacher in Baltimore City.
