TOWSON, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team competed at the Towson Invitational over the weekend. The action kicked off the 2008 outdoor season for the Blue Jays. Senior Chantel Priolo had a strong showing in the field events to lead the Blue Jays.

Priolo placed third in the javelin throw in her first action of the year. She recorded a throw of 34.92m in the javelin finals. She also followed that up with a seventh place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 26.20m.

Hopkins also had three runners compete in the 1,500-meter run. Sophomore Mira Patel took 16th place, crossing the line in 5:03.35. Senior Jessica Chin's time of 5:12.95 was good enough for 22nd place in the event. Junior Vanessa Lanio took 39th place with a time of 5:51.01.

Hopkins returns to action on March 28 and 29 by competing in the Raleigh Relays and the Terrapin Invitational.
