BALTIMORE - The hot hitting for the Johns Hopkins volleyball team continues, as the Blue Jays compiled a .339 attack percentage in a 3-0 shutout of Ursinus on Senior Day at Goldfarb Gym.

With the win, Johns Hopkins clinched its first Centennial Conference regular season title, finishing the campaign at 23-5, 9-1 in league play. The Blue Jays will host the conference tournament beginning next Saturday, Nov. 5.

Ursinus finished the season 7-11, 1-8 in conference play. They won three of their last four matches to close out the season.

The Blue Jays cruised past Ursinus in game one, winning 30-9 and hitting .500 (19 kills, 34 attempts) in the process. Hopkins took game two 30-12 and finished off the Bears with a 30-19 win in game three, hitting .309 (19-6-42).

This was the third match in a row that the Blue Jays have hit better than .270.

Seniors Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II) and Katie O'Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) came up big in the Senior Day win. Hajj had 20 kills and hit .540, while O'Callaghan had 16 kills, nine digs and a .297 hitting percentage.

Junior Lizzie Kay (Pacific Palisades, CA/The Cate School) also had a productive afternoon, with 27 digs and five aces.

Freshman Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) also contributed in the win, handing out 49 assists for the Blue Jays. She is now the first player in program history to record 1,300 assists in a season.
 

 

Sophomore Leah Rosin-Pritchard (Jamestown, RI/North Kingstown) led Ursinus with four kills, while sophomore Allison Hitchens (Sellersville, PA/Lansdale Catholic) recorded seven digs.
