With her fifth kill in Friday's 3-0 win over Catholic, Johns Hopkins senior Jen Hajj (Boca Raton, FL/Pope John Paul II) became the fifth player in the history of the volleyball program to reach 1,000 career kills.
Hajj entered the weekend's action at the Salisbury Invitational needing only 19 kills for the milestone. In the first match of the tournament, Hajj was one of five Blue Jays to have double-digit kills, contributing 14 in Hopkins' 3-2 win over Salisbury. The win raised JHU's record to 3-0 this season against the Sea Gulls.
In the milestone match, Hajj led Hopkins with 15 kills and turned in 53 during the tournament.
On the season, Hajj is the team leader in both kills (235) and hitting percentage (.354).
Five Blue Jays have over 1,000 career kills, including senior teammate Katie O'Callaghan (Babylon, NY/West Babylon), who reached the mark on September 10 against Eastern in the Battlefield Classic. Mary Alexis Paul (1997-00), Stephanie Kaliades (2000, 02-03) and Chrissy Horan (1996-99) accumulated over 1,000 career kills, with Paul sitting as the program's all-time leader at 1,609.
