BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's cross-country team opened its 2007 season with a second place finish at the Baltimore Metro Invitational. The Blue Jays were just edged out by the Tigers of Division I Towson University. The Tigers finished with four runners in the top ten and 27 points. The Blue Jays finished with six runners in the top ten and 31 points.

Sophomore Laura Paulsen captured the individual title for the second straight year as she crossed the line with a time of 18:27. That time was 11 seconds better then the second place finisher, Katie Ogden from Towson. The Tigers captured second through fifth place while the Blue Jays swept the rest of the top ten. Senior Javi Hartenstine finished sixth with a time of 19:18 while freshman Megan Brower was seventh with a time of 19:26. Mary O'Grady, Mira Patel and Christina Valrio rounded out the top ten by capturing eighth, ninth and tenth place.

The Blue Jays top seven finishers completed the course in less than 20 minutes, something the Blue Jays have never accomplished before in a race.

Hopkins will return to action on September 15 when it competes in the NYU Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
